Super star mammooty’s most awaited film Pazhassi raja is expected to hit the theatres by october 2nd.This film is a biopic magnum opus historical film directed by one of the best director in the Indian film industry, T.Hariharan and scripted by the veteran writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair.
Pazhassi Raja is the second work by the trio – Hariharan, Nair and Mammooty. Other than Malayalam, this film is being dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi also. Padma priya, Linda Arsenio and Kaniha are the heroines of this film. Tamil actor Sarath Kumar plays the role of Edachena Kunkan, the chief lieutenant of Pazhassi Raja and the villain role, Pazhaiveetan Chandu done by Tamil-Telugu actor Suman. Jagathi Sreekumar, Manoj k Jayan, Thilakan and Suresh Krishna is the other casts of this film.
This film is about the legendary ruler and warrior of the eighteenth century, Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja starred by Mammooty. Pazhassi Raja is from the Padinjare Kovilakam of the Kottayam Family. The revenue policy of the east India Company Malabar annoyed Pazhassi Raja and he threatened to destroy all the pepper vines if the British persisted in collecting the revenue. He was one of the brave freedom fighters to raise his voice against the British rule and finally took on the British in the forests of Malabar.
This big budget movie is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner Gokulam films. Score and soundtrack is by the maestro Ilayaraja and was recorded in Hungary, with the Hungary symphony orchestra. Oscar award winner Rasool Pookkutty is the sound designer and O.N.V Kurup is the lyricist of this film

Pazhassi Raja Review
The highly awaited ‘Pazhassi Raja’ has finally been released in 130 theaters in Kerala including 4 theaters in Trivandram with awesome response from the viewers. ‘Pazhassi Raja’ also has the credit of being the first world class Malayalam movie coming in four Indian languages, with a high budget of Rs. 27 crores. It comes with about 560 prints, meeting the mass audiences. Out of the 560 prints, 125 speak Malayalam, the original, 100 in Tamil, 100 are in Telugu, 110 speaks Hindi and 125 more in Hindi with English subtitles. The film is expected to be released in Tamil on October 30, and other versions are to be released later.
The film has a great hype and expectations among the audience, that the fans celebrated a 5 days welcome festival for the movie. People, who have seen the movie are seems to be satisfied with the movie, after a long waiting. They say that this is the best historical movie ever. Mammootty’s performance in the movie is sure to bring him another National award to his carrier. Mammootty and Sarathkumar are given an equally important character. Padmapriya plays a pivoted role in the movie ‘Neeli’, as a head of a tribal, who expects a brake through this. The movie is about a historic king of Kottayam, ‘Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja’, who started a revolution against British East India Company in 1797, which is claimed to be the first freedom movement in India, about sixty years before the Sepoy Mutiny in 1857, which is said to be the first one. Thus the movie is based upon an untold true story of the great king Pazhassi Raja, known as the Lion of Kerala, who lost his throne, palace, family, and his unborn child in the fight for the freedom. The King brought the people of Kurichiyar tribe together and led a guerilla war against British invasion.
The film has created a lot of expectations that it could win many awards and especially the fans expect that it would go for the Oscar awards. The release date of the film was postponed a number of times due to various reasons. The movie was first planned to release on October 2nd, Gandhi Jayanthi, but was then postponed. Anyway there was no drop or effect in the hype and expectation from the audience even after the delay. Now the film has got an excellent response upon its release. The film is also highly expected in the other languages.
